I am not a huge defender of Daly, but I think O Donnell and Bennett would have been given a go. He gave Sutcliffe a championship run in his first year out of minor. (But absolutely - I do remember you raising O Donnell first - fair play...)
Obviously a lot of players do get on fine with Cunningham, but equally obviously some don't. I don't really care who is on the field, or what age they are, or who they get on with really - but in championship terms this was not a good year by any means, and I believe we have the ability to do better. But I guess that is the crux of it really, if someone believes that the team is performing at the max level for the hurlers available in Dublin then they will be happy with Cunningham, if they think we can do better, they won't be. I happen to believe we can do better, but who really can prove the point either way?
I do think though, there has to be, and will be, moves to address some of the issues in the off season and next year will be better regardless of who is in charge.
My fear all along, and I am not for a minute including you (CDG) or indeed most or all on this forum in this - but there is a tendency in the wider Dublin hurling public to think a guy from a traditional hurling county knows better then us Dubs, so if the team isn't doing well it has to be because of the players - and I suspect that in some instances they get an easier ride because of that. If this was a Dublin manager, or even a Dublin based manager - I wonder what sort of pressure would now be on his head.
