If the recommendation body’s only job was to assess the bids relative to each other I think decision to rank Ireland last is fair. South Africa just hosted a soccer world cup, i’d imagine it has stadiums, France has stadiums too. Killarney etc probably doesn’t make the grade compared to its competitors in France and SA. I’m not sure what the whinging in the media is about tbh.
I think Ireland could do a very good job in comparison to the likes of New Zealand but probably not compared to France. It really depends on what world rugby wants in terms of its outreach.
