Agree quality poor. ABs in decline, as I said. My point was about the intensity of the battle, and that the Lions concept is still a great one, a unique thing. It reminds me of when we were kids, and din't know any better, sport was just about things like Blue Vs Red, or you'd imagine things like what would happen if different countries played together in one team, and so on. For that alone it's a great achievement for it still to exist at that level.
And while everyone goes on and on about jollies and revenue, the magic it generates for all those people (many of them ordinary shams on the trip of a lifetime that they saved everything for) who travel around, visiting places, and meeting many people on the way, having the craic with them, staying with them, is the great side to it.
Some brilliant stories too, the guy with the van who ended up invited to stay in a local's gaff for a break from the van, and discovered when he got there that it was the Ionne twins family home. Where they still share a room.
