If fairness the only two real references would be Scotland and Quebec, in each case both were allowed to decide their own future. At this stage it is not really about a referendum, yesterday’s actions have done serious damage, especially given the week build up, when we saw the Spanish police getting a heroes send off as if they were going to war, on hindsight it looks as if they were.
Some of the scenes yesterday were horrifying, we saw a policeman break a woman’s fingers intentionally. one after the other, we saw the police charge while a man was receiving help for a heart attack, pushing two people on top of the man Rumour has it he died later, not sure though there were confusing reports, but it was reported on RTE.
And to make matters worse, the Spanish government has been praising the police action all day today.
