Was it complacency do you think or not having a recognised 6?
We where all to self satisfied. We where full after feasting on sam in '13. We should have adopted a sense of austerity enjoyment. We would of won and beat the the ‘chosen one’ that the prophecy speaks off. We could off it called the ‘subdued goo for two’. We’ll never know.
Jeez…it was hardly a halfer he threw!
(Belfast slang for a half brick used in riots).
BelfastDub should now be accustomed to what a real object is. That’s when riots were riots.
A very recent photo of real ‘halfers’ being thrown. Who says we’re behind the times up here.
Lee Keegan…hold your head in shame.
The guy up front is a real pro with his hard hat in hand. The guy on the right is learning the hard way about not having a hard hat. The guy on the left looks like an action man figure!
Ha. Only spotted that!
He obviously came prepared.
Thank god I missed all that.
now now article 4 section 2, no throwin g.p.s’s
They must have new flatter GPS yokes…
On the tyrone jerseys on Sunday…you could see a credit card sized pocket on the back.
Also known as Lee Keegan proof.
L K P, he has a brutal shot though, cause it didn’t stop our Deano
09 for me ;at least in 08 we were still in the game at half time .Once copper scored after 35 secs it was all over , one of the kerry players headed the ball to himself in the second half , only time I have ever left a dubs game early , you can take getting beat but it was an absolute humiliation, absolute sickener it was ,and can just imagine how the players felt.
Agree , to be over that soon in a game , catastrophey . Stayed on til the end , couldn’t walk out & give them hoors the satisfaction.
09 for me too … bottom of a very big barrel. Always remember my brother telling our mate’s 9 year old that he could report his Da to Childline if he kept bringing him to Dublin games …
That’ was very like last year’s semi.
Most surreal first half ever. Silence. Literally dreading the second half.
Thought we still had a chance at end of first half in 08.
But went out for a smoke & then heard Ronnie Drew had passed away.
Thought to myself then it’s not going to be our day.
The 09 defeat was worse though. That was torture.
Yea, 2008 hit me harder as the previous few years we had incremental improvement to the point of knocking on the door of a final and then sudden utter humiliation on one wet day
Makes you thankful for the days we have now
Makes you thankful for the days you had then…
The thing is that there’s a new generation of kids up here, who’ve never been to an AI final.
Yet my daughter went to 3 as a kid. And beating Kerry too.
Back in the hey day…no one saw this famine coming.
Jaysus Daller there were great grandads up there not long ago who hadn’t been to a final!
Yeah…I did sound very Kerry like there!
Just meant that within a short period of time the county went from an expectation of winning to almost accepting not.
After winning the senior and minor AIs in 2008…most fans reckoned the success would continue.
I never really got that sense of desolation after a filleting. There’s no ifs or buts after a hammering. It’s done and that’s it with no doubt remaining about who is superior. Worst games for me were when we ran Armagh Tyrone and Kerry close but never quite got over the line.
