Just finished watching the game back.
I think McHugh, Rock and Kev Mac will be disappointed with their showing, but credit where it is due the Monaghan lads defended brilliantly.
Flynn seems to be moving very well again which is great to see. Brogan looks very sharp as well, he could be a super sub against a tiring defence come summer.
I like Kilkenny in the deeper role, yes he was an outstanding inside forward at underage but he was MOTM yesterday and was at the centre of most forward moves. A midfield of himself and Fenton may well be the way forward.
In the backs I would be worried about a full back line without Cooper against the better sides. David Byrne isn't a great man marker, or at least not as good as the other 3 lads who have been used in there consistently over the last 18 months. Byrne is a very good player but he is the only one of the 4 I have seen get a run around more than once.
It was a very good game, the subs closed it out. Monaghan looked leggy in the last 10 and their subs didn't bring too much to the game where as we could bring on lads that would walk into the vast majority, if not all teams in the country.
Would like to see O'Sullivan, Connolly, Brogan, McCarthy and Flynn start against Kerry and try get to a position where young lads can come in and apply the finishing touches. Wishful thinking?!
