The bigger worry is the self inflicted nature of some of these defeats. Today it was indiscipline, a needless sending off and a failure to address a glaring issue in the half back line. These were all problems of our own making. The sending off was a carbon copy of Ryan O’Dwyer in 2013. Well in the game with a good chance of winning. Fell apart after that.
Murphy from Cuala was very good. Great from frees. But the next top scorer was the keeper with 1-1. Not good enough. And too many of these lads will start next week. Looking at programes we have an overlap of ten, which is a lot. They were small enough compared to Cork’s U17s. They could be absolutely horsed out of it by lads a year older. I would reiterate that our chance to get something from the year was today. I would be very nervous about next week. If Currie is tied up we’re toast.
