Minor Football Championship 2017

15 is the only first year minor. The rest are all second year minors.

A piece this morning in Hill 16 from the manager Tom Grey…he says 7 lads are 2nd year minors and rest are newbies…

Minor footballers face Meath in Leinster Championship
Tue, 18th April 2017
Dublin minor footballers face Meath in this Saturday’s Leinster MFC first round in Parnell Park (3.0).
The Royals defeated Dublin in last year’s provincial championship but both sides will feature mostly ‘new faces’.
“Meath are a tough start for any team to have but having them first up has helped focus the minds somewhat,” says Dublin manager Tom Gray.
“We have played them a fair bit down the years in various competitions and we would be familiar enough with them.
“We have a relatively new panel this year and a few small injuries here and there so it’s important that we start well and settle into the game as quickly as we possibly can,” adds Tom.
Ross McGarry, Darragh Conlon, James Madden, James Doran, David Lacey, Donal Ryan and Luke Doran are eligible again this year having been part of last year’s minor championship panel.

7 lads were on the 18s squad last year as first year minors. The ‘newbies’ are lads making the grade for the first time - in their second year as minors. Only Ciaran Archer is U17.

yes a distinct difference between 2nd year county minor and 2nd year minor

Did James Madden come on for Boden last night?

Huge game this. Another bad year at minor would be very worrying. You would have to think though no stone has been left unturned, and we should be fairly strong.

10 down at half time and drew level in injury time.

Game gone to extra time

Any update ?

2 up with 5 gone in the 2nd half of extra time

Thanks sounds like a cracking game.

All over won by 2

After being down by ten.

Meath must be kicking themselves. Not even windy out :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

That is just a perfect result… It was a good solid game to find out flaws in the team / set up, guys get the confidence of a win, and not the over confidence of a comfortable win.

Maybe, just maybe a loss by a point or so would also been good, as it gets the extra game, which is vital at minor.

But those 10 point deficits do occur at under age in the early games of a championship. But when it got serious, Dublin won the second half by 10 points.

A good day, after two years of not good days at minor…

Massive comeback - great stuff

Can’t believe we were 10 down at half time

I think the second half was a truer reflection of the teams. If they played again I think Dublin should beat them, not easily, but should win.

Thanks to "the parish " for the updates great result and great character.
