Making it is very simple - making a competitive salary and living a fantastic lifestyle compared to what he would have here.
Gaelic football should be an after thought…he goes for 3 years and fails…comes back and isn’t as good, and so what? He can get that skill set back very quickly, and still be good enough to play for Kerry while catching up.
In reality all he would of lost is a few skills he can get back, maybe an All Ireland, but being that good and from Kerry, he’d believe he’ll have the opportunities to get many more.
If he doesn’t go because of external pressures, he may actually lose something fantastic. If he doesn’t want the opportunity then so be it, as in Kilkenny’s example.
