People keep harping on about the Daly era and how we got hammered etc on occasions. However I think people need to remember what Daly inherited. This is the team that was hammered in the championship by Cork in 2007 the year before Daly took over.
1 G Maguire; 7 G O'Meara, 3 S Hiney, 18 K Ryan; 5 M Carton, 6 R Fallon, 4 T Brady; 8 J Boland 9 D Qualter 10 R O'Carroll 11 L Ryan, 12 D Curtin 13 J Kelly 14 P O'Driscoll 15. K Flynn
This was Daly's against Wexford in 2008.
G Maguire; N Corcoran, S Hiney, T Brady; M Carton, R Fallon, J Boland; J McCaffrey, S Lambert; J Burke, D O’Dwyer, K Flynn; D O’Callaghan, J Kelly, R O’Carroll.
Imagine what someone like Daly could do with the talent that is available now compared with what he inherited and what he built them into. As well as that Daly's ability to convince footballers and any potential guy good enough to tog out was incredible..... Cunningham is undoing so much of it and not alone are we loosing all the dual stars(with no one trying to lure them back) , we are loosing our hurlers. The frustrating thing for many of us is we know that if we got our best 15 out and had someone getting the best out of them we'd go far...especially with Kilkenny no longer the super power they were. Tipp are good but they are beatable...apart from them if we'd our strongest 15 out and well drilled we'd put it up to anyone. Sure we beat the greatest team of all time in 2013 at the peak of their powers....and the panel we potentially have now is way stronger. ps...Dublin county board pay Cunningham his travel expenses(blood money) you'll make it back on gate receipts come summer.
