Absolutely bad days happen, but I have never seen Fenton rise up out of a crowd and grab a ball like Flynn (Kildare's Flynn) does. That isn't a fault per se, I don't think you can have the fitness to be up and down the field and also be the tank that can scatter a crowd and rise up and grab the ball like a Darragh O Sé or an Aidan O Shea, I would prefer to have a Fenton type. But what he needs to do is be able to at least limit the influence of the big guys, otherwise opposition keepers will target this on kick outs. I don't think he can ever be totally successful at it, because he just can't be both types of player in the one body, that is why I think the other guy needs to be a different type of player then McCarthy is. I am not sure O Sullivan is that type either. Flynn is, if he is back and MDMA definitely is, if he is back. Other then that, I would be giving more time to Bastic, if he is able for it.
its been posted here before, but this is a serious piece of fielding is it not?
Yep, it absolutely is. But it is a one on one thing and was from general play if I remember correctly. He had a similar great catch on Sunday. But I think if there is a slow ball coming out of the air, and there is a crowd under it, Fenton probably won't win it clean (but the likes of Kildare's Flynn will) I am not saying by any means he is not a good fielder of a ball, he is an excellent one. But no one can be all things to all men and there is a type of ball he won't win. But worryingly McCarthy won't win it either and my point was he needs someone with him who will. Fenton is a lovely footballer, but sometimes lovely isn't what is needed, and it is for those occasions we need someone with a bit more nastiness and physical presence.
