Jesus, they are fairly putting Clifford on a pedestal. I know 4-4 in an AI final is fairly unprecedented, and was amazing, but Louth held him to a point or two at the QF stage. The guy is seriously good, no doubt, but he has physical advantages now that he won’t always have as guys catch up with him. The likes of McBrearty and Murphy in Donegal were probably equally as stand out at minor level. McBrearty especially looked as if he could play teams on his own. What would worry me from a Dublin point of view is if he did go to Australia for a year or two and got physically developed, then allied with his skills he could be scary.
But for now, it is nice to see serious young talent like that, but I wouldn’t be pre-booking All Ireland celebrations on the strength of it. Kerry thought this year the U21 AI was going to be a cakewalk and they weren’t even the second best team in it,
