Nirvana Unplugged represents a truly magnificent performance, which was turned into a brilliant album and DVD - both prized possessions.

Must have a rewatch at some stage. I didn’t like all their stuff but what I did was excellent.

#1647

What ye didn’t like was excellent as well

#1648

The best songs on Unplugged are all cover versions though

#1649

Not saying it’s good music but I hear that Croke Park is to be Spiced up in May 2019!!!

#1653

Best song on it is About a girl imho , a Nirvana composition. Nevermind is a great album rest of their output is shite though.

#1654

Looking forward to seeing this

The first ever punk or new wave single to reach the top of the UK Charts. In doing so, they removed John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John’s behemoth, Summer Nights, from the number one spot and they reflected on this as they took their bow on TOTP; which was aired exactly forty years ago last night! In my all time Top Ten.

#1659

I firmly believe the charts were fixed to keep God Save The Queen off the top though

#1660

Believe me, 9/11 and the moon landings have nothing in terms of how seriously I take my conspiracy theories when I think back to the Pistols. 100% agree with you!

#1661

By the fascist regime?

There’s no future
And England’s dreaming

is fairly apt these days alright

Was just listening to London Calling this week and it too has some apt lyrics …

The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growin’ thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I, I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out and draw another breath

#1664

It’s a fairly accepted fact that it was fixed .

A lot of the lyrics from Infected by The The are very apt…

Beneath the old iron bridges, across the Victorian parks
And all the frightened people running home before dark
Past the Saturday morning cinema that lies crumbling to the ground
And the piss stinking shopping center in the new side of town
I’ve come to smell the seasons change and watch the city
As the sun goes down again

Here comes another winter of long shadows and high hopes
Here comes another winter waitin’ for utopia
Waitin’ for hell to freeze over

This is the land where nothing changes
The land of red buses and blue blooded babies
This is the place, where pensioners are raped
And the hearts are being cut from the welfare state
Let the poor drink the milk while the rich eat the honey
Let the bums count their blessings while they count the money

So many people can’t express what’s on their minds
Nobody knows them and nobody ever will
Until their backs are broken and their dreams are stolen
And they can’t get what they want then they’re gonna get angry

Well it ain’t written in the papers, but it’s written on the walls
The way this country is divided to fall
So the cranes are moving on the skyline
Trying to knock down this town

But the stains on the heartland, can never be removed
From this country that’s sick, sad, and confused

Here comes another winter of long shadows and high hopes
Here comes another winter waitin’ for utopia
Waitin’ for hell to freeze over

The ammunition’s being passed and the lords been praised
But the wars on the televisions will never be explained
All the bankers gettin’ sweaty beneath their white collars
As the pound in our pocket turns into a dollar
