Further negatives: forwards we had hoped to make step up to senior didn't stand out at all (bar Boland). None of the others have been consistent enough. In the second half only Boland looked anyway dangerous and took 3 of our defenders to show leadership that ultimately resulted in 3 of our best scores of game (accepted Forb for one of them was in midfield). Mgment changes didn't improve things which indicates to me pool of players beyond top 15 ain't huge especially in forwards.
All that said mcgabhan and Barrett both excellent prospects. O Donnell too but he is prone to gaffes. Both Galway goal chances in first half came from 1 on 1 chances v him where he took up a poor position.
Finally worth highlighting while this was a decent 21 team, they won nothing at minor level so to be hopeful of them winning an ai was unrealistic. Forwards simply not there and Waterford will in my view canter to an ai in sept. That's 4th game we've seen team this year and wides always an issue. As someone noted we really need a all star forward to come through and didn't see it in either minor or 21 teams. Paddy smyth, mcgabhan, Barrett, o Donnell will ensure very competive for positions at the back
