I see the U21 player of the year is now a vote on Twitter https://twitter.com/officialgaa/status/864595091272368128 . It is between Howard, Byrne and the Galway full back. But it is a bit crazy, how many people actually saw all three perform in more then one game? Very little of it was televised and very few neutrals were going along to see Dublin and Galway U21 games. So the vote will be decided just on county allegiance, or on an anti Dub bias. I strongly predict the Galway guy will win it because a) the Dublin vote will be split and b) you will just get loads of people voting against the Dubs.
The player of the game in the final was decided the same way and again Ó Ceallaigh won it. He had a goodish game, but not that good and no other media outlet gave it to him (I saw Murchan get it from a newspaper and Galvin from TG4). Voting for stuff like this just becomes a popularity contest, it isn't fair on the players involved.
