Just on the football manager doing hurling thing - Meath did the reverse with Boylan and it worked out fairly well for them.
On Kenny, if he did decline, we have no idea why - there could be a million reasons.
An interesting interview with Daly at some press event (quoted in a few sources, including the 42), he seems very up to date on Dublin hurling now and while saying all the right things about Cunningham, he got in his digs all the same (as Daly does). Guys being blooded before their time, but at least it’s done now, type thing. He is 100% correct of course.
If it is Gilroy, I hope there is no one ‘with him’. He can bring in who he likes to look after whatever he wants them to, but the notion of someone being ‘with’ him is only pandering to the press and others. It happens when people haven’t the balls to make the appointment they want to make and have to soften it.
Personally I don’t care who it is, I don’t know enough about any candidate or how they would intend to do the job to judge. You would have to be sitting on the appointments panel to know the ins and outs of it. We will get an idea next summer of how it is going, and a full idea the following one.
