The thread has sort of disintegrated to a point where I can’t actually follow the points being made anymore, or even if there are points being made. But that above is interesting, and an interesting analogy if Gilroy gets the job. I was on a hurling team managed by Heffo, I am not sure if it is the one being referred to above, but we won stuff under him. It’s a long time back and I can’t remember the ins and outs of it, but I know he got the best players out for games - even some who were away were bought back. Every one knew where they were playing and generally what was expected of them.
I don’t think hurling management is rocket science, I think first you have to be a manager. Gilroy’s appointment would work for me. But other guys would work too and I would really have no opinion on anyone until I saw them in the job for six months as it is impossible to know what they will bring. With a proper manager we will be ok. Maybe not win All Irelands in the short term, but we will be a top level team again.
