Can I just add the caveat lads if talking about the Cooper incident and to the lesser extent the Jack Mc incident that you are stating opinions, lot of posts here questioning Coopers character, I don’t think anyone on here has the right to do that.
He went down holding the back of his head, it does look like unintentionally McManus may have clipped him with his elbow on the back of the head as he went down. This is something the co-commentator made mention of.
The other side is Cooper seemed wound up after the incident and sought out McManus then got into some verbals and a bit of a tangle afterwards.
The fact that people’s opinions on here are split on it suggests there may have been something in it.
If Cooper stayed down for treatment I’m going to suggest that he got a knock as I am in no position to question any mans character. All in my opinion of course.
On the game itself, I think the first 10 mins off the game effectively killed it as a competition, Dublin were quite simply superb, Monaghan came with a game plan it broke down and they had plan no B.
Dublin forwards put huge amount of pressure ongthe Monaghan kick out and any Mon player coming out of defence.
The reintroduction of Cooper after injury was key to Cian getting free and always having a player to sweep the breaks.
I thought Young McCarthy for Mon got 3 off of Cooper when he came on, I’d put this down to a lack of game time on Coopers part, hopefully he’ll be fully up to speed next day out.
Mannion and Con put in a big shift both lads never stopped, interesting that Mannion is usually subbed off but played the full game yesterday, he shot the lights out against Westmeath but in his last two games has done a lot more of the dirty work.
Paddy Andrews is finding form at the right time some nice scores and recycled the ball when there was no other options.
Dean was superb from placed ball and open play, his first free yesterday was a thing of beauty, he hit it a few feet to the right and it just curled in beautifully, exceptional piece of skill from a right footer on his wrong side. He executed his goal very well, no time to catch it so took the right option.
Again good spread of scorers five of our starting 6 scored and 9 different scorers overall.
Thought of the subs O’Gara did very well caught and distributed some lovely ball, took a good score and should’ve won a free when going for goal.
MDMA brought really power from the middle and forces opposing teams into panic.
Flynn had a couple of possessions and got a decent score, the great thing about this score was it involved three subs in a really good move.
Bernard on another day could’ve had 1-3 but he seemed to be forcing the issue a little, almost trying too hard to win back his place, I think it’s pretty certain now that his role will be as sub from here on.
Overall we won while not overstretching ourselves, we got valuable game time for Cooper, McMahon, MDMA and Flynn.
We’re coming good at the right time, I have no fear of Tyrone, their game plan centres around turnover ball, patience is the key and nullifying Peter Hartes effect on the game. Again as I said earlier in the week about Monaghan, I can’t see Tyrone putting up a high enough score to beat us, we have the better bench, better spread of scorers and know how to deal with the blanket, it’s nothing Jim and the lads haven’t seen before.
