Adult Football League 2 (AFL2) 2017

That was a big win for Donabate. Puts them on 7 points alongside Erins Isle and O’Tooles, but O’Tooles the worst points difference (even though they beat the other 2) with all their games completed.

When 2 or more are level do you still look at all games for points difference, or just games between the 3 teams? Makes a massive difference in this case as the order for all points diff would be Donabate, ErinsI, O’Tooles, but it would be the exact opposite if just looking at games between the 3 of them.

Just Whitehall below them on 5 points, but they’ve two games left and should have Costello for them.

Mini league between the 3 teams as far as I know.

Does Conor Mortimer still play any ball at all ?

Not for Parnells anyway. Thought he transfered back home but may have transfered back again to parnells but hasn’t played for them at all in at least 2 years.

Plays soccer with Kilmore.

involved with Parnells hurlers too

Olafs 6-17 Whitehall 2-9

Puts Otooles safe even if Whitehall win last game as they have best SD between all four teams and if Whitehall lose last game they’ve best SD against Erins Isle and Donabate aswell.

The SD is only between the teams level on points, not whole league.

Raheny decide who wins the league

Yeah, its clear if Whitehall don’t win their last game v Ravens, they are relegated and it’s Donabate v Erins Isle in the playoff.
But if Whitehall win, then the 4 bottom teams will all be level on 7 points and the results between themselves will be:

O’Tooles 4 pts +2
Erins Isle 3 pts even
Pats Donabate 3ps -2
Whitehall 2pts even

Logically, when looking at head-to-head involving more than 2 teams, you’d look at match results first then scoring difference second, in which case Whitehall would be down and Donabate and Erins Isle would playoff.

But someone told me that they thought the rule only mentioned scoring difference and match result was irrelevant! That would mean Donabate relegated and Isles and Whitehall in the playoff (assuming Whitehall beat Ravens first).

Anyone have the exact wording of the rule?

  1. For the purposes of Rules 6.21(4)© / 6.38 T.O. 2016 the following shall apply to all League/ Championships, Leagues and Cups run on a league basis;
    When teams finish on equal league points for Qualification for the concluding stages, or for promotion or Relegation, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified;
    (i) Where two teams only are involved – the procedures as outlined in Rule 6.20 (5) © T.O. 2014 shall apply.
    (ii) Where more than two teams are involved – Scoring difference (subtracting the total scores against from the total scores for) of the games where the teams tied on points played each other only. In the event that a team involved in a tie consisting of more than two teams had their finishing points total affected by a loss of points against that team on a proven objection, forfeiture of points for breach of rule / regulation, or by loss of points for failing to fulfil a fixture, that team shall not be included in any play-off and shall deemed to have finished in last place in whatever means is used to decide the tie. The procedures outlined in Rule 6.21 (4) © T.O. 2016 shall then be used to separate the remaining teams in the tie.

So is it head to head if only 2 teams finish on same points

Head to head if 2 teams finish level. Points difference comes into play if they drew.

If more than 2 teams finish level then a mini league between the affected teams comes into play.

BSJ 5-13 Raheny 0-11

Fenton not playing I heard.

No he wasn’t. Interesting game on Saturday! Raheny still need 2 points to make the playoffs.

Is he injured ?

haven’t a clue. Wasn’t at the match either but was talking to someone who was who mentioned he wasn’t playing and Raheny didn’t look too interested

On his holliers apparently. Not sure if he’s back for the weekend

Raheny Beat Olafs by 9 so BSJ took league

Whitehall beat Ravens
