Have to admit I thought Maurs would get a trimming here with the injuries and lads away. Syls looked a much bigger team also.
Good game neck and neck most of the time When at 4pts each Maurs got a point and then a penalty to go 5 up before half time and made it 6 just on the whistle. It was a silly penalty to give away as the Maurs player was slightly off balance and the Syls player pushed him.
Wind got up at start of 2nd half and Syls used it well to mix their game a bit and hit a few good scores, the No 11 was excellent for them as was Ross (Hazlet?). Maurs hit a point but Syls narrowed to 1 point and looked like they would go on and win it. The last 5 minutes were frantic. Maurs got a super score to edge in front. Syls had a great move and the final shot thankfully for us whizzed just wide but they levelled it. Maurs kept the ball very well and showed great patience to nip a great point and a mistake by Syls saw Maurs go 2 up 4 minutes into injury time.
Great result for our lads and delighted to get 2 more points on the board.
Danny Byrne had a good game for Maurs. Caught some very good ball and ran himself into the ground. Chris Moore after over 2 year absense played midfield role and was superb and Jack Burke was also very good. Ciaran Redden had a very good game without overdoing it. Very controlled on the ball and used it very well.
Like a previous poster above who commented on Na Fianna line I thought the Syls sideline were awful and their players must have been auto as the line spent most of the time shouting at referee and everyone else when they were not out on the pitch. Referee was good. He had his own umpires and in fairness they got 3 of our lads booked.
