Never mind, you have to be of a certain age, to to be…ahem…alive to the joys of Agneta in her prime.
I had no sisters … but she had the ABBA album …
Right you are boss. Won’t pry too closely into the origins of all those Boney M or Bucks Fizz albums either. Yer grand. We’ve all been that soldier when it comes to music. There is absolutley no shame in admitting that you loved David Soul more than Jimmy Keavney, throughout the entire decade of the 1970’s. None at all.
Great scene, and the bit after at the dishco
My cousin - who is two years older than me and was allowed stay up late to watch S&H, the lucky baxtard - and I, still greet each other with "Yo Honky (Not very PC, but there ya go.) Huggy Bear was the coolest one of all.
I used to drink in Ned Scanlan’s in Townsend St (great character RIP) in the 80s - cards, darts and then the Waterfront. Craig Johnston lived in Dublin at the time. He made a fortune on the Predator boot after he finished playing. Met him down there a couple of times and he was always a great laugh. No airs at all - enjoyed the pints and the craic with the lads.
I also always associate Joe Jackson songs with the place but can’t remember was it some guy who did good covers or what! In mitigation I was never one bit sober in the place. Some nights I had even trouble finding it …
Ah , another gem remembered
Love the simple intro and opening line.
Sure while we’re at it … again great intro and opening line …
Hutch: Okay, let me ask you a question, which one do you want cause we’re gonna stick to this?
Starsky: I’ve always had a thing for blondes.
Hutch: Good, cause I’ll take anything.
I love the sax solo at the end of this and the way it blends into the violin right the death.
Joe Jackson is a brilliant artist, it must be said.
‘Is she really going out with him?’ was a great song. I remember it was a question I used to wonder a lot back in the old days.
My favourite has to be “Steppin Out”.
Good Al - but this one is better!!
Some band in fairness , I presume they wrote their own tunes ? Very good musicians & vocalists . Also throw in the fucked up relationships they had with each other
Seriously cutting edge dance moves there. Jesus, they make Brotherhood of Man look like Beyonce.
Altogether now…Kisses for me…save all your kisses for me, bye bye baby, bye bye…
Wang Chung on Nova right now!
Whether or not you liked them, ABBA were one of the best, if not THE best, pop bands ever.
