Yep indeed, it was like finding The Hobbit’s treasure after the dragon had scorched it! I also remember a mate who used to sing his own version of the great Visage tune Fade to Grey, his had the chorus In Hector Grey’s, his lyrical adaptation was very funny but I can’t recall any of it, I will try to get him to dig it up from the dark recesses of is mind (as somebody also once sang).
Being the sensitive boy I was, I guess I’m in a very small minority here who will admit that I absolutely loved John Denver? There’s a great video of him singing in the early 80s at the Siamsa Cois Laoi fest that used to be on in the Pairc. Incredible live performance, especially considering the standard of sound equipment at live events in places like Ireland back in them days.
