You leave ABBA alone, they were brilliant and I used to sneak my sisters collection on when they were out. Chiquitita remains my favorite Fabba Four tune, what can I say, I was a sensitive boy… But oh, those harmonies!
My first ‘record’ was either a 45 that my mother bought with the theme tune from the Samurai TV series The Water Margin, or a 45 me and my brother won at a ‘Jim Carneval’ somewhere in the sticks. It was called “Do You Want to Buy a Camel”, and was actually about camels but was probably a sneaky Arab cover for advertising cigarettes.
My first real record, not including all the Beatles and Dylan stuff the older brods had was “The Doors”, followed shortly after by Bob Marleys “Natty Dread” which has a really nice early/original version of No Woman. Great to remember when new music blew your mind!
