Why we're here

Since 2002 (roughly the same length of time the cork hurlers have been striking. Coincidence. I think not) RES DUBS has been the place for Dublin supporters to read up on, cheer and pull their hair out about the dubs.

Come in have a look around, talk shite and enjoy.

Anatomy of a Dublin supporter. Print E-mail

Based on a number of years of watching and studying this beast, I have painstakingly put together the true anatomy of a Dublin supporter. Close friends are referenced but haven’t the balls to sue.

Upbringing Reared in the hinterland of Dublin, to parents of the liberties. Brought up listening to Thin lizzy, the Boomtown rats and the Dubliners. Thinks bono is a pretentious wanker. Reared on catch and kick football, he was a prodigy at minor and a handy hurler too, found the gargle and another talent was lost. As jobs were tough ended up going to England for a start. Watched the 1983 all Ireland final from a pub in Kilburn, needless to say ended up in a row with an old Galway builder. Considers himself the fourth musketeer of that faithful September day. Came home later that year and hasn’t missed a championship game since.

The Interview - Maynard in Conversation with Kevin Flynn

Sometimes it is upon the road less travelled whereupon you will find the
most inspiring sights. For over eleven years now, Kevin Flynn has beaten a
path out before him, driven on by the desire of representing Áth Cliath.
During his time he has endured slings and arrows that would have made lesser
men turn back. He nevertheless stuck to his guns and in 2003 captained
Dublin to the Walsh Cup victory over Kilkenny. Ladies and gentlemen, the
monolith of Dublin hurling, Kevin Flynn…

Artane Band

With all the changes that have been made to the physical appearance of Croke Park, over the last decade, one sight that has remained a constant at the ground has been The Artane Band. For the past 121 years the sight of the Artane boys and recently girls, parading around Croke Park, teams in tow, has become synonynous with the GAA the world over.

Blue And Navy caught up with the administrator of the Artane Band, Joe Edge, to find out a little more about the “biggest little band in the world”.

Pillar & Paul interview Print E-mail

I was experiencing one of those weird ‘out of body’ moments. One of those sensations when you feel you are not really present, not ‘there’, in the moment. It does not seem real somehow.

My mind briefly recalled the aftermath of the Mayo game in September as the BAN team were well into our post match ‘wind down’ in our favourite Dubs alehouses’ in Summerhill.

“You know what would be great,’ slurred one of editorial staff, ‘it would be fookin great if we got an interview with the management for the fanzine, give them a chance to air their views and opinions directly to Dubs fans’. ‘An interview with Pillar!’ retorted one of our regular columnists, ‘an interview with Pillar! Pillar doesn’t do interviews, ye thick ye!”

Five months on, sitting in front of me, is Pillar Caffrey..........................

England lift the Munster Hurling title, but only just Print E-mail
Written by HONCHO

It was something of a dilemma the other week wasn’t it. So called ‘True Gaels’ might be loath to admit it, but bouncing out of the Croke Park just before 4pm on the 25th of June last after Dublin had at last sent Mick O’Dwyer into retirement (we hope) with a 14-point spanking of his Laois side, most men in blue were in a bit of quandary – which game do we watch? England versus Ecuador, or the Munster Hurling Final?
